Description
USS New York (LPD-21) is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock and the fifth ship of the United States Navy to be named after the state of New York. Shortly after 11 September 2001, Governor of New York George E. Pataki wrote a letter to Secretary of the Navy Gordon R. England requesting that the Navy bestow the name ‘New York’ on a surface warship involved in the Global War on Terrorism in honor of the victims of the September 11 attacks.
Kit has 760 + parts, 29 sprues, single piece full hull, detailed (flight deck, hanger deck and well deck), ramp doors, ships boats, life rafts, utility crane, anchor chain, photoetch (railings, inclined and vertical ladders, radars, and additional accents), US Marine Assault Vehicles (AAV-7 x2, LCAC Hovercraft x2 and LCU Landing Craft x1), Aircraft and Helicopters (CH-46E Sea Knight x2, CH-53E Super Stallion x2, MV-22 Osprey 2, AH-1W Cobra 2, UH-1N Iroquois x2), catapult, name plate and display stand.
Completed model is approximately 23.5″ long.
