Description

On October 25, 1944 the famed Taffy III battle group engaged a superior Japanese force, in the Southern approaches to Leyte Gulf, Phillipines. Even though overwhelmingly outgunned and suffering numerous casualties including the ROBERTS, HOEL, JOHNSTON, and GAMBIER BAY, Taffy III forced the Japanese vessels to retire in one of the most heroic, modern sea battles.

BlueJacket’s model of this Butler-class destroyer escort is based upon a design of Mr. Bill Hudson, with revised plans and instructions by famed WW II modeler and author, Dr. Al Ross. Al has created a model that is one of the most exquisitely detailed and accurate models ever offered. The kit contains a basswood hull, cast pewter fittings, laser cut wood parts, and a great deal of etched brass. The kit is in 1/16” scale to complement BlueJacket’s models of the USS KIDD and USS GAMBIER BAY.
